Save the Norppas
Welcome to the Save the Saimaa Ringed Seal volunteer event! In 2019, part of the proceeds from Karjalan Appro was donated to the animals of South Karelia. It was then revealed in collaboration with the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation that there was a significant need for volunteers to build seal-friendly traps. From this, we got the idea to organize a traditional mulled wine and pastry event alongside trap-building, and everyone is welcome! The Finnish Association for Nature Conservation (SLL) will provide materials for the event and experienced individuals to guide participants in trap construction. Participants can purchase a completed trap for the cost of materials or donate it to the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation. Donated traps will be used in SLL’s spring event “Swap Nets for Traps.” Mulled wine and Christmas pastries will be provided for volunteers during the crafting. The event is open to crafters of all skill levels and is completely free; you can join even if you can’t participate right away. So grab a friend and come help out together!
